Long Time a Comen…

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Ok, so it’s been a while, and well, it’s probably way past time for an update, so I’ll keep it short…  ha ha!  (also note, this may look a bit funny, but it’s my first chance to try the new Windows Live Writer, a tool designed just to do Blog Posts, and pretty slick so far…)

So what’s been up in my life?  Mainly, honestly?  Work!  Busy Busy!  But outside of work, I did get the chance to go home for a weekend.  I didn’t get to see everyone I had hoped, but I did get to spend some time with my family, and just enjoy some time off for once!

Anyways, I know it’s short, but I’ll try to write some more sometime soon…

Please come again!

Hey ya’ll!  Yes, that is the technically correct way to say it!  Well, sorry to say it’s been a while.  It’s been a crazy week.  Had training at work, and needless to say, it reminded me of everything I hate about classes.  Also had meetings all weekend long.  Which wouldn’t of been bad, except for I wasn’t feelen the best and missed out on my Sunday meetings…

Anyways, that’s besides the point.  Yes, I do have points to my posts, even if not everyone can see them.  It’s my fake IQ test.  (Did it work?)

I’ve noticed lately how many people in the world really have no clue.  It’s really quite apparent if you just look around and see all the miss-information out there.  Granted, a lot of it is sent out by proponents for one issue or another, but that still doesn’t account for the bulk of it.  I’ll use an easy example.  I would say most people have no clue what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is all about.  It’s amazing because of the ease to get correct information.  I’ve noticed that many people who profess to know about the church, and even those that don’t, have very little understanding of what it is, what it teaches, it’s history, or what it does.  Most have just heard rumors and pass those along as fact.  What makes it even more interesting is how the news and media treat the church.  I watched a special report all about it, and even with access to the top leadership of the church to answer questions, they still didn’t catch on.  Example?  Talking about the temple.  They kept talking about how secret it is.  It’s far from it.  It’s sacred.  Maybe the fact that most people don’t treat things as sacred anymore means they’ve forgotten what it means to treat things with the reverence deserved for such a sacred topic…  They seem to forget that even in Solomon’s temple or Mose’s tabernacle, there were places only the high priest could go, and then only under specific guidelines…  I’m sure there are many more such examples…

Up and Coming…

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

So I’ve been working on a few things that will be coming up shortly.  It’s nice to see that some of them have actually been nocked out of the way, but the list still seems to be eternally long…  So here’s a quick recap, as it’s been a long while since I’ve done one of these.

Completed and such:

  • Reset the blog – I know, is silly, it’s stupid, but so far, I gotta say I’m happy I’ve done it.  So far the new version of the blog software is winning me over.  It seems to be easier and faster, and actually work like it’s supposed to.  We’ll see how long it lasts! ;)   I still haven’t finished the tweaking and setup, but that’ll come in time.  I’m hoping to add some cool stuff to it eventually.
  • Holiday travel.  Ok, it’s not really done, I still have one more trip to do, but at least I don’t have to worry about the airlines this time!  That’s most the battle there if you ask me…

Up Coming and Fun (even if geeky):

  • A new and improved website I’m coding for a buisness.  It’s the first time I’ve done web coding in a while, but I’m excited to see it coming together faster then I expected.  I have high hopes for it, we’ll see how it comes together.  I’ll probably be asken for volunteers to surf it as it comes closer to completion to let me know if it flows correctly and what you’d like to see in the next version to make it easier and better to use.
  • Windows 7.  After all the hype following Vista, you’d think Microsoft has no clue how to write software.  While they do manage to screw things up quite often, for the scope of company they are, I think they get it right more often then not.  Many people complain about Vista, but most of them haven’t really used it, and by that, I mean more then 10 minutes in front of it.  Some of the biggest complaints (User control popups for example) are actually impressively not as intrussive as one would think, especially when compared to some of the competitors products.  Not to say it’s perfect, but not bad.  With all that said, Windows 7 is supposed to take the foundation of Vista, rehaul the interface even more (while suttle to the user, it was a drastic change on the backend in Vista).  I know it wont be all good, but I am looking forward to the public beta later in the month.
  • Getting the blog set up completely.  It’s close, but not quite there.
  • Finish scanning my film negatives.  It’s a long, teadious process, but it will be nice to have digital copies for easier use, distribution, sharing, editing, etc.  There are a lot of these pics I haven’t seen since the first time they were developed as I mailed them off to friends and family.  Fun to relive the memories eh?
  • I’m looken forward to cooken a few good meals.  First will probably be KungPao Chicken, one of my favorites as a kid.  My mom has one of the best recipies, I only hope mines a fraction as good.  A quick second will be country bbq spare ribs.  Again, one of my favorites growen up, but this time I have an excellent roasting pot from my mom to cook them in.  Truely a treat when done right!

Yes, it’s random, and there’s more, but just a quick snippet of life for you to savor…
